Loopholes in reduction targets

The COP 15 visualised project is concluded and this challenge is no longer relevant. We hope to continue the use of visuals to make sense of climate negotiations in the future. The NGO’s have found some major loopholes in theclimate targets of rich countries. The countries come forward with reductiontargets that look reasonable (actually bad, but for the purpose ofmaking my point we call them reasonable) on paper, but there is so muchthat is not included into the targets that the reality as our…See More

Also - the idea of social business(coming from Muhamad Yunus) would be a good one to put in there- although it hasn't been brought up - it is a great way to address all of this - essentially it's not profit maximizing, but social impact…

So - no visual to contribute but can give you the input from the business side. Business very very very badly wants a clear, long term, predictable price set on carbon....the image i think of is them (mostly) twiddling their thumbs...or waiting for…

Welcome Visual Thinkers and Practitioners

Copenhagen Cop 15
Bigger Picture has been using the power of visual language, - thinking and practice to support WWF in creating clarity around core messages, concepts, consequences and possible solutions. As a part of this work we have been inviting many visual thinkers and visual practitioners to engage and contribute with your insights, skills and concrete illustrations. The purpose of this Ning has therefore been to serve as a platform for everyone involved contribute and follow each other’s work.

Most of the illustrations from our visual practitioners at the summit, as well as those from the global network, can be found on the project blog: cop15visualised.com

For more information about how the material has been used, licenses, our relationship with WWF and other practical issues, see the about post

In the future we will keep working with visuals to create meaning in the complexity of climate negotiations as well as constantly strive towards getting more and more visual thinkers to be a natural part of these climate challenges.

Start of a bigger perspective

Ole's call for more bigger pictures is something I can get behind!

The current view of countries represented by their spokespersons is one of promise, challenge, notice, panic and caution. I am trying to get my head around the abstract meaning of the quotes of different countries. I made a quick sketch of the world and mapped the faces of influence on the world view.

They represent different needs and stages of urgency. It might be helpful if we deconstruct the different world views… Continue
